Domain Registration or Transfer All Network Solutions domain registrations and transfers are processed by HOSTSIAM free of charge! This is the process of establishing your site's new domain (yourdomain.com) or transferring it from a previous host to our own servers. For new domain name registrations, Network Solutions will charge a registration fee of $70, which covers 2 years. After the 2nd year they will charge you $35 per year. You will be billed directly from them. We host web sites all over the world, regardless of which country a domain name is registered in. If you need to register your domain name with an organization other than Network Solutions, all you will need to do is get the organization to point your domain name to our DNS (Domain Name Servers). Unlimited Domain Pointers Every hosting plan includes the ability to have an unlimited amount of domain name pointers. This means you can have as many domain names as you'd like pointing to your web site. (ie: domain1.com, domain2.com, domain3.com - all pointing to the same area.) These domain names must point to your root web, but there are ways that you can redirect users into a specific sub-web within your web site. You will also be able to receive mail via domain name pointers. Each domain name pointer requires a 500 baht one time setup fee. No additional monthly fees are involved. Please see domain services for more information on pointers! Unique IP Address Every web hosting account at HOSTSIAM is configured with a static IP address. This means that you are given a unique set of numbers (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) specifically assigned to your web space. This allows you to access your web site via a web browser or development tool regardless of the status of your domain name. Having your own IP address also gives you the opportunity of publishing your web site to your new web space before actually transferring your domain name to our DNS. This results in NO DOWN TIME when transferring your web site from a previous host. Some hosts setup multiple web sites on the same IP address which could lead to many problems including browser compatibility issues. Unlimited Sub-Webs You are given administrator permissions to your web site allowing you to create and delete sub-webs on your own. (ie: domain.com/company1) Each sub-web can have its own home page. This is very useful if you would like to organize your web site into different sections or you would like to have multiple web sites within your main site. There is no limit to how many sub-webs you can have as long as you stay within your designated hosting plan's storage and bandwidth guidelines. The hard drives in our servers are all 7200 RPM+ Ultra Wide SCSI with Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T.). S.M.A.R.T. technology monitors certain characteristics of drive performance and timing. These measurements are used as an early prediction of drive failure. The drives are configured in a RAID 5 configuration (disk mirroring) that is more expensive to implement than RAID 1, but offers much more performance and reliability. Daily Tape Backup Our servers are backed up daily on high-capacity data tapes that retain a full image of our server drives in the unlikely case of a drive problem.
